    At age 81, Elizabeth "Betita" Martinez is "going to stay around a few more years and make some more trouble." The well-known activist and author has been doing social justice work since the 1940s, and has seen multiple periods when a backbone of dedicated women helped movements reach the next level. Her most well known book, 500 Years of Chicano History, helped a generation of Chicana/os find pride within a United States that was celebrating an Anglo-centric bicentennial.
